Should you dust cobwebs at home or spider webs?

Many people get confused between spider webs and cobwebs. Most of us think they’re the same thing. They’re not. Spider webs are silk structures created by spiders to catch bugs. These webs are often found in damp spaces or overhangs. Meanwhile, cobwebs are spiderwebs’ leftovers. Instead of catching insects, it catches dust.

What is clear is you don’t want to have cobwebs in your living area. These will make the space look dirty. The good news is they are easy to remove. You can also take steps to prevent spiders from coming back and making themselves at home. Here are some simple ways to dust cobwebs at home.

Vacuum Them Away

The vacuum cleaner is the best weapon in your cleaning arsenal. Cleaners for hire will attest to this. Its strong suction action makes removing cobwebs and dust lingering in corners easy. Use the extension nozzle to reach the corners of the ceiling and the seams in the wall. This saves you from stepping on a chair or ladder to reach the ceiling. You also won’t have to get on your knees to reach under furniture.

Do a Regular Sweep

Some independent house cleaners won’t bother with a vacuum. A broom can also do the job well. Gently sweep the bristles across the ceiling and walls. It’s an efficient and fast way of getting rid of cobwebs. You’ll also be removing the dust stuck on those surfaces. A feather duster will also do the trick.

The key to preventing cobwebs from appearing is to dust often. You don’t have to do this every day. But make sure you sweep and wipe down surfaces once or twice a week.

Use Sticky Tape for Textured Surfaces

Brooms and feather dusters are great for flat surfaces. But you need something more for textured walls or ceilings. Brushing cobwebs across bumpy surfaces could push them to stick to the crevices. Your best bet is a lint roller with a bit of adhesive. Move the lint roller in one direction across the surface. The dust and cobweb strands will stick to it in no time.

Give Your Old Toothbrush a New Job

Cobwebs can also cover air vents. You might see them wrapped around hinges and other small spaces. A vacuum nozzle and broom bristles might be too clunky for the job. But an old toothbrush would be perfect. You can also use a one-inch paintbrush for this job.

Check Your Plants

Plants are a wonderful addition to any space. But make sure that beauty is the only thing they add. Spiders and other insects often hide in potted plants. Double-check every leaf for tiny spiders. Place outdoor plants away from doors and windows. This prevents them from getting inside your home.

Also, check the space behind your indoor plants often. Be on the lookout for webs and get rid of them as soon as you see them.
